We Know Your Neighborhood

Every SM street has its quirks. Here's what we've learned from thousands of local moves.

Ocean Park

Beach bungalows and cottages with narrow driveways. Street parking is competitive—reserve your spot 24hrs ahead. We navigate the tight residential streets daily.

Montana Avenue

Upscale residential with tree-lined streets. Many homes have limited driveway access. Early morning moves (8-9 AM) work best before shopping traffic picks up.

Main Street

Mixed residential/commercial zone with strict parking enforcement. Third Street Promenade is pedestrian-only—we use adjacent streets for nearby moves.

Downtown SM

High-rises require elevator reservations 2+ weeks ahead. Most buildings have strict move-in windows (8AM-5PM weekdays). Loading zones fill fast.

North of Montana

Premium homes with larger properties. Some streets have permit-only parking. We coordinate with building managers for seamless access.

Wilshire Corridor

Condo buildings along Wilshire have specific move-in procedures. Contact your HOA 2 weeks early. We know the requirements for most buildings.

SM Parking Guide

Don't Get a Parking Ticket on Moving Day

Santa Monica parking enforcement is legendary (and not in a good way). Here's how to make sure your moving truck doesn't get ticketed or towed:

Permit Quick Facts:

  • Apply at least 24 hours before your move
  • Maximum reservation: 72 hours
  • Cannot reserve red curbs, ADA zones, or bike lanes
  • Apply online through City of Santa Monica

Pro Tip: Third Street Promenade is pedestrian-only. For nearby moves, we use 2nd or 4th Street for truck access.

Real Stories from SM Residents

Don't take our word for it—here's what our neighbors say.

"I was stressed about moving my grandmother's antique dresser down those narrow Ocean Park stairs. Marcus and his crew wrapped it like it was made of glass. Not a scratch. They even helped me figure out the parking permit situation the day before."

Sarah M.
Ocean Park → Montana Ave
December 2024

"Our building only allows moves from 8-5 on weekdays. The crew showed up at 7:45, had the elevator reserved, and we were done by 2pm. I've never had a move go that smoothly. The quote was exactly what we paid—no surprises."

David & Lisa L.
The Waverly (Downtown SM)
November 2024

"This was my third move with OneShotMove. I keep coming back because they actually remember me. Same lead mover (Carlos) both times. He knew to be extra careful with my vinyl collection. That kind of attention you can't fake."

Questions We Get All the Time

Honest answers—no sales pitch, just what you need to know.

How much will my move actually cost?

Most SM moves run $140-$180/hour for a 2-person crew. A typical 1-bedroom takes 3-4 hours. We quote a flat rate after hearing about your move—what you see is what you pay. No surprise fees for stairs, long walks, or "fuel surcharges."

Do I really need a parking permit?

Probably, yes—especially in Ocean Park or near Main Street. Santa Monica parking enforcement doesn't mess around. Apply online at least 24 hours ahead. If you're stressed about it, call us and we'll walk you through it. We do this every day.

When should I schedule my move?

Early morning works best—our 8-9 AM slot fills up fast. Weekday moves are smoother than weekends (less beach traffic). And no, we don't jack up prices on Saturdays. Same rate, every day.

What if something gets damaged?

It rarely happens, but we're human and accidents occur. Every move is covered by our liability insurance. If something breaks, tell us immediately—we'll make it right. We're not the type to ghost you after move day.

My building has strict rules. Can you handle that?

We've worked with most SM buildings and know the drill: elevator reservations, move-in windows, loading dock procedures. Tell us your building name when you call—there's a good chance we've been there before.
